Directors at Disney Animation during the Golden Age
Floyd Norman recalls how things were back in the old Disney Animation Building on the Main Lot:
Those of you who never experienced, “Old Disney,” I’ll remind you that directors had units on the second floor of the Animation Building. The director’s office was usually sandwiched between two large offices. That meant the director could get up from his chair and walk into the space of his layout crew. If he went the other direction, he would be in one of the large story rooms. In any case, he had easy access to his crew. The director was buffered by his secretary, and if he chose not to be disturbed, he simply closed his office door.
Rarely do we get to hear about Ham Luske or Clyde Geronimi so this kind of info is great.
