About
Welcome to Seward Street - the character animation blog. While occasionally I might digress into other animation-related subjects that interest me, the primary focus of this site is on classic Disney-style character animation. Fans of Milt Kahl, Ollie Johnston or Glen Keane will find great company here. If there is a particular post you are looking for or information on a specific subject, feel free to enter the info in the search box located right below the banner.
The site is divided up into three major categories:
- The Legacy - The classics from Disney Feature Animation (anything before 1980)
- State of the Art - The Second Golden Age and beyond (everything after and including The Little Mermaid)
- Instruction - Animation notes, tips and tricks from the masters of the artform
I also try to keep up-to-date with what is happening in character animation today and provide a separate page of those links here. The most recent links also show up on the front page of the site.
Feeds
If you are a consumer of RSS feeds (and if you're not, you really should be) I have two distinct feeds that you might want to subscribe to:
- Seward Street - This is the main feed for the site and contains everything except....
- Seward Street Links - This is the feed for those outbound links.
I'm providing both because I'm sure there are a lot of people who already subscribe to the same feeds I do and therefore probably already know what is being said about character animation today. If not, or if you're interested in finding out what I'm interested in, feel free to subscribe to the second link.
And if you're having trouble deciphering the significance of the domain name, you can always read my very first post on Why Seward Street?
Enjoy!
